Exchange Custom Sender System Requirements

Before running the installer, ensure these pre-requisites are installed and you are using a compatible operating system. The requirements differ depending on the version of Exchange you are using. The server components (Transport Agents) and Outlook add-in also have different requirements.

Exchange Custom Sender for Exchange 2019, 2016 & 2013

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 or later
    After installing the .NET Framework, we strongly recommend running Windows Update and installing the latest Important and Optional updates.

  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2019, 2016, 2013 with Mailbox Role, 2010/2007 with Hub Transport Role, or Exchange 2003
    The latest service pack for Exchange is recommended, as are multi-Role Exchange Servers. In an Exchange 2019, 2016 or 2013 environment, the Mailbox Role is required. In an Exchange 2010 or 2007 environment, the Hub Transport role is required.

    In an environment with Edge Transport servers, Exchange Custom Sender should be installed on all Edge Transport servers. If there are no Edge Transport Servers, Exchange Custom Sender should be installed on all Mailbox or Hub servers.

  • Microsoft Exchange Cumulative Updates
    CU6 for Exchange 2019 is recommended
    CU14 or above for Exchange 2013 is recommended
    CU17 for Exchange 2016 is recommended

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2016 or Windows Server 2019

Exchange Custom Sender for Exchange 2010

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0
    After installing the .NET Framework, we strongly recommend running Windows Update and installing the latest Important and Optional updates.

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1
    Exchange Custom Sender for Exchange 2010 requires the .NET Framework 3.5 in addition to 4.0. This should already be installed as part of Exchange 2010. After installing the .NET Framework, we strongly recommend running Windows Update and installing the latest Important and Optional updates.

  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 with Edge Transport or Hub Transport Role
    Service Pack 3 is recommended for Exchange 2010. Multi-Role Exchange Servers are recommended.

  • Windows Server 2008 SP2 (x64 only) or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1

Exchange Custom Sender for Exchange 2007

  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 with Edge Transport or Hub Transport Role
    A minimum of Exchange 2007 SP1 Rollup 4 is required if using Exchange 2007. Earlier versions of Exchange 2007 have a bug which prevents address rewriting from working correctly.

Outlook Add-in for Outlook 2019, 2016 & 2013

Most users should use the 32-bit (x86) version, even on a 64-bit operating system. The x64 version is only for the 64-bit version of Office. Most environments use the 32-bit version of Office.

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5
    After installing the .NET Framework, we strongly recommend running Windows Update and installing the latest Important and Optional updates.

  • Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime 4.0
    The Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime 4.0 needs to be installed after the .NET Framework. Note that VSTO 2010 is still the latest version even for Office 2019.

  • Microsoft Outlook 2013, 2016 or 2019

  • Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8 or Windows 7

Outlook Add-in for Outlook 2010

Most users should use the 32-bit (x86) version, even on a 64-bit operating system. The x64 version is only for the 64-bit version of Office. Most environments use the 32-bit version of Office.
